Collegiate Shield

PSJA Collegiate High School Program is proud to work closely with our comprehensive high schools.  Students enrolled at PSJA Collegiate High School Program are still able to attend fine arts and athletics at the campuses they are zoned to.  It is our honor to incorporate the colors of our PSJA Family in our shield. Our shield is a combination of two student designs submitted during enrichment camp in May 2018.  A school and district committee selected and arranged the components of our shield.

PSJA Collegiate High School Program shield is set on a platinum background.  Platinum is one of the most rare precious metals. It is often used as a catalyst.  Just as PSJA Collegiate High School Program is a catalyst encouraging our students to be college ready, college connected and college complete.  

 

The shield is divided into three sections (tierced per pall reversed).  These sections are outlined in black forming a peace symbol representing our desire for a peaceful global community.  Black represents constancy and prudence. We are cultivating endurance and wisdom in our students to achieve academic excellence. Black is also the color of our sister campus PSJA North Early College High School. 

The top left section contains alternating bars of maroon and navy. We are setting the bar to the highest level of excellence.  Maroon represents patience, strength and victory, all qualities of a PSJA Collegiate High School Program student. Navy represents loyalty and the highest values of honesty in all aspects of life.  Maroon is the color of our sister campus PSJA Early College High School and navy is the color of our sister campus PSJA Southwest Early College High School.  

The top right section contains our charge, a lion, a leader, symbolizing dauntless courage.  A PSJA Collegiate High School Program student is proud, courageous and strong, willing to take risks and overcome obstacles.  

Our shield is enclosed in a green laurel wreath symbolizing achievement and success.  Green also represents optimism, hope and joy and is the color of our sister campus PSJA Memorial Early College High School.  

 

PSJA Collegiate High School Program shield is outlined in gold to represent elevation of the mind or wisdom attained through education.  Gold is one of the colors of our sister campus PSJA T-STEM Early College High School.  

A crown/coronet perches atop our shield as an emblem of royalty or nobility.  PSJA Collegiate High School Program holds students accountable to rigorous standards for academic success and prepares them to be elite members of society.
